PHD Equity Partners announce first close

PHD Equity Partners LLP (PHD)has had a successful first closing on its maiden private equity fund, PHD Equity Partners Fund No. I LP. PHD, has secured commitments of nearly £5million from private investors.

Investors in the first close include all the partners of corporate finance firm Dow Schofield Watts LLP and Lord Daresbury.

PHD has also secured commitments from over 20 private investors, each of whom has been a successful entrepreneur. In addition to their significant financial commitments these entrepreneurs will also act a source of dealflow.

PHD was formed at the start of 2009 by the corporate finance partners of Dow Schofield Watts LLP who have been advising on middle market private equity investments since their formation in October 2002.

PHD seeks to invest in established companies based in the UK regions that have a strong regional brand or franchise that are capable of being developed into a national business.

Legal advisors to the fund were O'Connors LLP.
